  5. Partner External Maps
  6. =====================
  7. In the old days of Odoo/OpenERP, back in version 6.1, there was an official
  8. *google_map* module ; this module added a *Map* button on the partner form view
  9. and, when the user clicked on that button, it would open a new tab on its web
  10. browser and go to Google Map with a search on the address of the partner.
  11. This module aims at restoring this feature with several improvements:
  12. * Each user can select the map website he wants to use in its preferences
  13. * There are now two buttons on the partner form view: one to open a regular map
  14. on the address of the partner, and another one to open an itinerary map from
  15. the start address configured in the preferences of the user to the address of
  16. the partner.
  17. This module supports several map websites:
  18. * `Google Maps <https://www.google.com/maps>`
  19. * `OpenStreetMap <https://www.openstreetmap.org/>`
  20. * `Bing Maps <https://www.bing.com/maps/>`
  21. * `Here Maps <https://www.here.com/>`
  22. * `MapQuest <http://www.mapquest.com/>`
  23. If the module *base_geolocalize* from the official addons is installed on the
  24. system, it will use the latitude and longitude to localize the partner (instead
  25. of the address) if this information is present on the partner.
  26. Configuration
  27. =============
  28. If you want to create additional map websites, go to the menu
  29. *Settings > Technical > Map Websites > Map Websites*. You are
  30. invited to send the configuration information of your additional map websites
  31. to one of the authors of the module, so that the module can be updated with
  32. more pre-configured map websites.
  33. Usage
  34. =====
  35. First, you need to configure in your preferences:
  36. * The map website to use for the regular maps,
  37. * The map website to use for the route maps,
  38. * The start address for the route maps.
  39. Then you can use the two new buttons on the partner form to open a regular map
  40. or a route map.

  44. Known issues / Roadmap
  45. ======================
  46. * Let decide if the user prefers to use addresses instead coordinates when
  47. *base_geolocalize* is installed.
